Proposal and Challenge
FOOD RECOVERY is a non-profit organization that promotes food sustainability. The organization need a tool to assist people in understanding and managing their food waste.
College students and adults who are worried about the quantity of food they waste and want to learn more about what they can do to reduce waste and donate leftover food to the needy are the major target consumers of FOOD RECOVERY app.

In many countries, food is thrown away each year. FOOD RECOVERY App’s strategy highlighted a lack of general knowledge about food waste and donate the leftover food to the needy and a lack of understanding of personal impact as key reasons of continuous food waste.​​

To create an app that increase food waste education, help people manage their own food waste, and donate surplus food to those in need.

Allowing users to easily upload, share, and discover recipes from a diverse community of cooks

Implementing a live streaming feature where chefs can demonstrate cooking techniques in real-time

Age: 24
Occupation: Part time store worker
Problem Statement: Leone is a working student who needs reminders, recommendations, and coaching to cook with fresh ingredients more frequently since he enjoys cooking and wants to make it a habit.
Frustrations: Fresh ingredients are costly and soon spoil, ordering food from restaurant is costly and results in a lot of wastage, after party lot of food goes to garbage.
Goals: Make it a habit to cook at least once a week, food waste reduction, save money for future, donate leftover food to NGOs, if possible

JAMES
Age: 38
Occupation: Accountant

Problem statement: James is a working father who needs exciting new recipes that make tasty, easily reheated leftovers, because most of the food they’re throwing out is old food that they forget about them.
​
Frustrations: Recipes' search on phone for available grocery is sometimes difficult. I forget leftover food in refrigerator and it gets smelly.
​
Goals: Experiment with cooking with various food items, less food wastage, new tool for recipes with available grocery at home

After finishing the app designs, I began work on the responsive website. To ensure an unified and uniform experience across devices, I used the sitemap to guide the organizational structure of each screen's design.
